So I’m a Christian, Now What?

The moment you received Christ, many things happened:

  • Christ came into your life “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and
opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.” Revelation 3:20
  • Your sins were forgiven. “For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us
    into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”
    Colossians 1:13-14
  • You became a child of God. “Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he
    gave the right to become children of God.”     John 1:12
  • You received eternal life. “I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent
    me has eternal life; and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.” John 5:24
  • You began the great plan for which God created you. “I have come that they may have life, and
    have it to the full.” John 10:10

Here’s some ideas of how you can grow in this spiritual life to which Christ calls you:

  • Fellowship in a Good Church:  God’s Word tells us not to forsake “the assembling of ourselves
    together” (Hebrews 10:25) In other words, it’s important to worship with others, not just watch a  
    Christian TV program.
  • Go to God in Prayer Daily:  “If you remain in Me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you
    wish, and it will be given you.”  (John 15:7)  You now have a guest in your heart. Take time to
    speak with Him and ask His direction in your life. God is now “with us.” The question is whether we
    are “with Him.”
  • Read God’s Word Daily:  You may want to start with the Book of John. Always pray first that the
    Holy Spirit will help you to understand God’s Word.
  • Trust God for Every Detail of Your Life:  “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”
    1 Peter 5:7
  • The Holy Spirit:  Allow Him to control and empower your daily life and your witness to others.
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses
in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8
